Background screening and employment checks
Increasingly employers, retailers and landlords are taking more proactive action to carry out background checks on those with they will have a financial dependency. Effectively the same technology that makes it easier for people to commit frauds is now being used to protect companies from fraudulent individuals.
All too often there is media coverage of how an employee with serious credit problems undertakes some type of fraudulent activity in the workplace. Carrying out thorough employment background checks is no longer optional for employers, it is a fundamental requirement to safeguard their interests and to protect their shareholders.
Whilst there has been a reasonable amount of coverage on employment checks we hear far less about retailers who suffer financial loss through credit extended to those who later do not pay. It makes sense for retailers to take more proactive action to establish the credit worthiness of their customers.
One of the areas where financial loss is most commonly experienced is with residential landlords, cases of tenants absconding with rents owing is all too common. In the UK the problem is very serious with as many as 1 in 8 tenants have court enforced debts against them, these are debts that take precedent over any rents they may owe to their landlord.
Overall background checks of all types are becoming a fundamental of economic life in the UK and other country economies. With the increased demand there is now a proliferation of online companies such as Credit Check Services serving the needs of employers, retailers and landlords.
